Everyone wants to know who they’re about to go on a date with. How are we to know who these people are without them directly telling us?

In this edition, we explore color and color psychology. It’s unavoidable! Color is everywhere and there are basic colors that come with certain characteristics. Scientific studies have linked color to emotion, persona, and even thought processes. Researchers have found the following descriptions to be eerily accurate.

Black

Black is the color of power, authority, and “darkness”. It is extremely popular in fashion because it’s serves as an optical illusion making people seem thinner. Throughout the centuries the church and religious leaders have used black and a symbol for submission to GOD by wearing it. There are even studies that suggest that in some cultures, women wear black to imply submission to men. Black also makes people feel villainous and evil. Some of the scariest characters throughout time have been dresses in black and get around with black transportation. Even Batman seems dark and evil because of his choice of color. Is your date just making a fashion statement or do they truly have a dark side?

White

The ultimate symbol of purity and innocence. From gurus through brides, white radiates everything that is good. It also symbolizes winter and cold, after all, the coldest places on the planet are covered in white snow. People that surround themselves with white generally have a lighter demeanor and seem more friendly and happy. This date would definitely be enlightening or will just bore you to tears.

So full of emotion and intensity, red is known to have physical effects on humans. It is known to increase your pulse and breathing. It is also said to make people hungry! It is sensual, represents love, lust, and worldly desires. Red is used to represent power and authority. Often used to attract attention, women wear red (lipstick, dresses, shoes) to project a sensual confidence. Men wear red ties to project power and stability. A red date would be interesting to say the least!

Pink

The most feminine color in the color wheel, pink also happens to be tranquilizing. It supposedly drains energy from masculine subjects. Women who are attracted to pink are generally more feminine and of higher maintenance while men use pink as a symbol of their masculinity or at the complete opposite end, femininity. Can you say fun?

Blue

Blue is one of the most popular colors in the world. It reminds us of the sky, the ocean, and a general feeling of wellness and tranquility. It can also be cold and calculating so blue is a little tricky to dissect. Generally speaking, blue is loyal and peaceful and exhudes stability and productivity. A good solid date that will have you thinking of marriage and children.

Green

Clearly the color of choice when representing nature and anything natural, green also signifies envy, greed, and money. People attracted to green are often attracted to wealth, power, and have a hunger to succeed. On the opposite end of that spectrum, green exudes social responsibility, social cause, and nature. You can clearly see the distinction between the two types of personalities attracted to green. Some people just like living large, are you ready for an adventure?

Yellow

Cheerful is the yellow submarine and the yellow bus, this happy hippie color adds cheer to anything it touches. It also enhances concentration and speeds metabolism. Yellow has a dark side though and if not used sparingly, it is overpowering and explosive. The distinction between the two types of people attracted to yellow is clearly divided. Kumbaya! Purple is also used in some cultures in the “dark arts” and has an eerie omni-presence making it appear artificial and superficial. People who surround themselves with purple tend to have deep convictions and may appear shallow. On the flip side, they may be poised and regal in nature. Can you handle a little mystery?

Brown

Another color of the earth, brown tends to be the stable cousin of green. A reliable and stern naturist, brown is elegant, earthly, and warm. It’s abundance is radiated from within and it exudes sophistication, wisdom, and knowledge. Brown also represents filth, uncleanliness, and a general air of being dirty. The distinctions between the two personalities that are attracted to brown are obvious and clearly defined. Makes for a sweet “organic” experience ;)
